Captain Larry Farmer is a native of LaGrange, Kentucky. He enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve in January of 2012 and reported to MCRD Parris Island for basic training on 2 April 2012. PFC Farmer graduated from Hotel Company, 2ndt Recruit Training Battalion on 29 June, 2012. He then reported to Camp Geiger, North Carolina for Marine Combat Training. Following Marine Combat Training, PFC Farmer reported to Fort Leonard Wood Missouri for Military Police Basic Course. He then reported to Military Police Company Alpha, 4th Law Enforcement Battalion, Lexington, Kentucky.
In November of 2016, after graduating from the University of Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, Sergeant Farmer accepted a commission in the United States Marine Corps through the 10-week Officer Candidate Course. Following Commissioning he attended and completed The Basic School and was selected to attend Military Police Officer Basic Course where he graduated in 2017. After completing his initial training Second Lieutenant Farmer reported to 4th Law Enforcement Battalion, Alpha Company where he served as a Platoon Commander.
Then in February 2018 2ndLt Farmer volunteered for a one year experience tour where he would go to Combined Arms Training Center Camp Fuji, Gotemba, Japan and serve as the Deputy Provost Marshal at the Provost Marshals Office. Upon completion of his experience tour, 1stLt Farmer returned to 4th Law Enforcement Battalion, Alpha Company, and continued to serve as Platoon Commander.
In December of 2020, Captain Farmer again volunteered for and activated as a Platoon Commander for Guantanamo Bay Security Forces Rotation 21.1 in support of Marine Corps Security Forces Regiment. Captain Farmer ended his activation in late 2021 returning to Alpha Company.
In October of 2021, Captain Farmer transferred to Detachment Delta Company, Anchorage, Alaska and assumed the billet of Delta Company Executive Officer. He served as Company Executive Officer until January 2024, when he assumed the billet of Company Commander for Headquarters Company, 4th Law Enforcement Battalion.
In his civilian life, Captain Farmer lives in Kentucky, where he works as an assistant brewer. Captain Farmer’s awards and decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
