Biography

 

Captain Arthur D. Gage (DC)
Executive Officer
4th Dental Battalion

Captain Arthur Gage is a native of Riverside, California. He is a 1991 graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles School of Dentistry, where he received a Doctor of Dental Surgery.

Captain Gage was directly commissioned as a lieutenant into the Navy in 1991 and was initially assigned to 2d Dental Company at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he served as Oral Diagnosis Department Head and Staff Education and Training Officer. In 1993, he reported to 21st Dental Company at Marine Corps Base Hawaii. He separated from active duty in November of 1994 and entered residency training in Endodontics at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in Loma Linda, California. He received his specialty certificate in endodontics in 1997.

In 2012, Captain Gage entered the Naval Reserves and was assigned to 4th Dental Battalion, 4th Dental Company, Detachment 4. In 2013, he was reassigned to Detachment 1 and served as the Officer-in-Charge and concurrently as the 4th Dental Company Administration Officer. In 2015, he was assigned to Expeditionary Medical Facility Camp Pendleton, Headquarters Detachment, where he served in the positions of Command Awards Officer, followed by Command Training Officer. In 2017, he was assigned to Operational Health Support Unit, Navy Medical Center San Diego where he served as the Senior Dental Executive. In 2020, he was reassigned to Navy Reserves Naval Medical Forces Support Command in San Antonio Texas and served as the Program Manager. Currently, he serves as Executive Officer for 4th Dental Battalion.

He is authorized to wear the Fleet Marine Force Warfare Officer Insignia, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and various other service awards. He is a graduate of the Marine Corps University Joint Professional Military Education (JPME-1).

Captain Gage currently maintains a private practice limited to Endodontics. He is a past president of the 1,800-member Tri-County Dental Society, a component of the California Dental Association. He has held a variety of positions in the American Dental Association, American Association of Endodontists, California Dental Association, Orange County Dental Society, and Tri-County Dental Society. He is a Fellow of both the International College of Dentists and the American College of Dentists.
