Biography

 

Captain Michael S. Miller
Commanding Officer
Littoral Craft Company C., 4th Assault Amphibian Battalion

Captain Miller is a native of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He attended St Cloud State University, MN and graduated with a B.A in Travel Management and a Minor in Aviation operations. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 2015.  

Second Lieutenant Miller’s first assignment was in 2016 with 4th Assault Amphibian Battalion (AABn), Alpha Company, Little Creek, VA serving as a Platoon Commander.  In 2017, he accepted orders to 3rd AABn, Camp Pendleton as the Company Executive Officer and deployed to Okinawa has part of UDP 18.1. 

Immediately coming off orders from 3rd AABn, First Lieutenant Miller took orders to Marine Forces North in 2018 and deployed to Mexico. Captain Miller was the lead advisor for small craft instruction.  

Captain Miller then took orders to become the Marine Forces Reserve G1 Sourcing Cell OIC in 2019. His duties included sourcing HQMC promotion boards, Board of Inquiries, and sourcing IA billets across the globe. 

In 2021, Captain Miller reported to Marine Forces Europe/Africa where he assumed the duties of the Key Leader Engagement Manager. His duties include planning and managing the strategic engagements for senior leaders.  

In 2022, Captain Miller accepted orders to MARFORRES to assume the responibilites as Staff Secretary. His duties include directing and supervising the daily administrative function of the offices of the Commander or MARFORRES/MARFORSOUTH, Executive Director, Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff, Force Sergeant Major and the Force Command Master Chief. 

In 2023, Captain Miller became the Assistant Ground Training Officer in the MARFORRES G-3/5. His duties included managing formal schools and developing the Mission Essential Tasks, Concept of Employment, and Training and Readiness Manual for the Littoral Craft Company. 

In 2024, Captain Miller returned to the SMCR with 4th AABn as the Assistant Operations Officer and was subsequently assigned in 2025 as the Commanding Officer of Littoral Craft Company Charlie in Galveston, TX. 

Captain Miller is a graduate of Assault Amphibian Officer course, Marine Advisor Course, Expeditionary Warfare School, Command and Staff College, and Basic Small Craft Operators Course.
