First Sergeant Charles Lauersdorf

First Sergeant Lauersdorf enlisted in the Marine Corps in June 2001. Upon completion of recruit training at San Diego, California, he attended Marine Combat Training in Camp Pendleton, California. In January of 2002, he attended the Intelligence Specialist Course at Navy and Marine Corps Intelligence Training Center (NMITC) in Dam Neck Virginia and was awarded the MOS of Intelligence Specialist (0231)

In March of 2002, Lance Corporal Lauersdorf reported to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 267 (HMLA-267) out of Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton. In December of 2002 he deployed to Kuwait, then subsequently Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom I. Directly following the deployment to Iraq, he would deploy to Okinawa as part of the Unit Deployment Program, where he would spend several months on ship taking part in Joint Task Force 515. He would be meritoriously promoted to Corporal when he returned to CONUS.

In February of 2004, Corporal Lauersdorf volunteered to deploy to Iraq for a second time, this time with 2nd Battalion 4th Marines where he would be attached to Echo Company for a majority of their deployment and would take part in the 2004 Battle of Ramadi.

In 2005, Corporal Lauersdorf received orders to Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) in Washington, D.C. for assignment as an Intelligence Operations Officer. Sergeant Lauersdorf then volunteered for a third deployment to Iraq with a Special Operations Forces unit out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Later in 2005, he would be promoted to Sergeant.

In 2008, Sergeant Lauersdorf received orders to Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC) where he’d subsequently be assigned to Marine Special Operations Company H, 2nd Marine Special Operations Battalion. After completing the Direct Support Team Special Operations Intelligence Training Course, he was awarded the Special Operations Capability Specialist – Intelligence MOS (8071, SOCS-I). In 2008 he was promoted to Staff Sergeant. He then deployed to western Afghanistan to take part in Operation Enduring Freedom. In 2010, Staff Sergeant Lauersdorf left Active Duty after 9 years of service.

In 2012, Staff Sergeant Lauersdorf joined the Marine Corps Reserve and would be assigned to Pacific Command Joint Detachment in Fort Worth, Texas where he’d serve as the Senior Enlisted Advisor and Senior Intelligence Analyst. Following his time there, in 2018 Staff Sergeant Lauersdorf received orders to Marine Corps Forces South in Miami, Florida, where he’d serve as the Training SNCO for the G-2 section.

In 2020, he was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant and received orders to serve as Intelligence Chief for Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 112 (VMFA-112) out of Fort Worth, Texas. In 2021, he would deploy to Iwakuni, Japan with VMFA-112 as part of the Unit Deployment Program.

In 2022, Gunnery Sergeant Lauersdorf returned home and received orders to serve as Intelligence Chief with 4th Reconnaissance Battalion out of San Antonio, Texas.

In May of 2023, he was promoted to his current rank of First Sergeant and was assigned to Company B, 1st Battalion, 23d Marines out of Bossier City, Louisiana.

In the civilian sector, First Sergeant Lauersdorf owns his own real estate media firm and serves as an elected representative on the Fort Worth City Council, where he represents nearly 1,000,000 citizens in the 13th largest city in America. He has his Bachelor of Arts in Intelligence Studies and his Executive Master of Business Administration from Texas Christian University.

His personal decorations include the Purple Heart, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
