Major (Maj) Pierce is a native of Mesa, Arizona. In January 2002 he graduated from Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California. He completed the School of Infantry (SOI) in March 2002 as an 0311, Infantry Rifleman. After the completion of SOI he was assigned to 1st Platoon, Company E, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division (2/1) Camp Pendleton, California.
In January 2003, Lance Corporal (LCpl) Pierce deployed with 1st Platoon, Company E, BLT 2/1, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) for the invasion of Iraq. From September to November 2003, LCpl Pierce attended Infantry Squad Leaders Course. LCpl Pierce was promoted to Corporal (Cpl) and then deployed to Fallujah, Iraq in February 2004 with Company E and participated in Operation VIGILANT RESOLVE. In October 2004, Company E returned to the United States and Cpl Pierce was reassigned to Scout Sniper Platoon, Weapons Company, 2/1. In July 2005, Cpl Pierce deployed with Scout Sniper Platoon, Weapons Company, BLT 2/1, 13th MEU as a Scout Sniper Team Leader. During his deployment he was promoted to Sergeant (Sgt) and participated in Operation STEEL CURTAIN. In February 2006, the 13th MEU returned to the United States and Sgt Pierce left the Marine Corps on 14 April 2006.
After leaving the Marine Corps, Roger Pierce moved to Maryland and was the International and Hazmat shipping supervisor for the Baltimore United Parcel Service facility from May 2006 until October 2010. Roger Pierce attended the University of Maryland Baltimore County and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History in 2009.
Roger Pierce returned to the United States Marine Corps in October 2010. He was accepted to Officer Candidates School and attended from October to December 2010, commissioning 10 December, 2010. Second Lieutenant (2ndLt) Pierce attended The Basic School and graduated as a basic Marine Officer in June 2011. 2ndLt Pierce attended Infantry Officer Course from September to December 2011. In January 2012 he reported to Company G, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division (2/7). He served as 2nd Platoon Commander from January 2012 until June 2013. From September 2012 until April 2013 2ndLt Pierce deployed with Company G, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines to Sangin, Afghanistan. He was promoted to First Lieutenant (1stLt) in December 2012. From June 2013 until February 2014 (1stLt) Pierce served as the Executive Officer (XO), Company G. The company deployed to Al Zarqa, Jordan from January to February 2014 in support of the Jordan Operational Deployment Program. 1stLt Pierce was assigned as the Company Commander from February until April 2014. 1stLt Pierce again served as the XO for Company G from April 2014 until June 2015 and deployed in support of the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force (SPMAGTF) to Al Zarqa, Jordan from September 2014 until April 2015.
On 1 April 2015, 1stLt Pierce was promoted to Captain (Capt) and in June 2015 executed orders to Headquarters Regiment, 3d Marine Logistics Group where he served in the S-3 as the Regimental Training Officer, Anti-Terrorism Force Protection Officer, JUMP/Personal Security Detail Training Officer, and Physical Security Officer. Capt Pierce graduated from Expeditionary Warfare School Blended Seminar Program (EWSBSP) in December of 2017. In June of 2018, Capt Pierce executed orders to 2/1 and served as the Headquarters and Service (H&S) Company Commander until December of 2019. During this time Capt Pierce deployed with BLT 2/1, 31st MEU from May until November 2019 and participated in exercises Talisman Sabre, Noble Wind, and Dragon Viper. Upon returning from deployment he relinquished command of H&S Company and served as the Company G Company Commander until June of 2020. Shortly after relinquishing command of Company G, Capt Pierce was frocked to Maj on 30 July, 2020. In August of 2020 Maj Pierce executed orders to Marine Corps Training Mission United Arab Emirates where he served in the Training Support Center for the Presidential Guard, Khalifa Bin Zayed II Brigade as the team Deputy and Maneuver Advisor until 3 July, 2022. Major Pierce is currently serving as the Inspector-Instructor for Company A, 1st Battalion, 25th Marines in Brunswick Maine
His personal decorations include three Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, one with Combat `V', Combat Action Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal.
