Captain Zachary W. Bailey
Commanding Officer
ALPHA COMPANY, 1ST BATTALION, 25TH MARINES

Zachary Bailey, a native of Quincy, Massachusetts, graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in May 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. Captain Bailey joined the Marine Corps through Officer Selection Station (OSS) Amherst, MA upon graduation. He completed the Basic Officer Course and Infantry Officer Course in 2015.

After completion of officer training, 2ndLt Bailey was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines in Camp Pendleton, CA in April 2019 where he served as a rifle platoon commander with Company E. He deployed with the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force-Crisis Response-Central Command from May to November 2020, during which time he served as Embassy Security at the Baghdad Embassy Complex. Following redeployment, 1stLt Bailey was assigned to the Combined Anti-Armor Team within Weapons Company. He deployed with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit from May to November 2022, during which time he served as the surface TRAP force commander and as the S-3A.

Upon completion of his active duty service, 1stLt Bailey affiliated with Company A, 1st Battalion, 25th Marines in Brunswick, ME and served as a rifle platoon commander once again from February 2023 to April 2024. During this time, he executed Integrated Training Exercise 4-23 and transitioned to the Executive Officer role of the Company. Captain Bailey conducted annual training exercise Tradewinds 24 in Barbados, a bilateral training opportunity with Caribbean Nations that ensured positive relations from the US to that region.

In July of 2025, Capt Bailey assumed command of Company A, 1st Battalion, 25th Marines in Brunswick, ME. At the start of the new year, Capt Bailey augmented Charlie Company to support their activation and deployment on the UDP 26.1, where he currently serves as the Executive Officer.

Captain Bailey’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with gold star in lieu of second award, Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal, and Sea Service Medal with gold star in lieu of second award.
