Major Duddy is a native of Logansport, Indiana. He enlisted as a Private First Class and reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island on 18 October 2004. He reported to Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment and deployed as a Rifle Team Leader during the battalion’s contingency mission throughout the Gulf Coast Region from 2 September to 1 October 2005 in support of Joint Task Force Katrina & Rita.
Major Duddy deployed with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Special Operations Capable, to the Mediterranean Sea and the Arabian Gulf in 2006 where he participated in the Non-combatant Evacuation Operation of US citizens from Beirut, Lebanon. Major Duddy served as a Rifle Squad Leader during the battalion’s deployment to the Al Anbar Province, Iraq from September 2007 to April 2008 during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Major Duddy reported to Marine Special Operations School, Stone Bay, North Carolina in June 2008 and served as a primary instructor in the Weapons and Tactics branch after completing and being selected by MARSOC’s Assessment and Selection course. He instructed patrol base operations, conduct of raid, and prep for combat during the first and second iterations of the Individual Training Course.
Major Duddy was selected for the Enlisted Commissioning Program in fall of 2009 and attended Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Virginia from October to December 2009. He subsequently attended The Basic School as part of Bravo Company and the Infantry Officer Course.
Major Duddy reported to 3d Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment and deployed as the Police Advisor Team Executive Officer, Marjah District, Helmand Province, Afghanistan from May 2011 to August 2011 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He cross-decked mid deployment and assumed commanded of 1st Platoon, Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment in Karez-E-Sadi, Afghanistan from September 2011 to January 2012.
In February 2012, Major Duddy assumed command of 81mm mortar platoon, again with 3d Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment and deployed to Okinawa, Japan during the battalion’s Unit Deployment Program from January to August 2013. He assumed command of Headquarters and Service Company in October 2013.
Major Duddy reported to Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California in June 2014 as a Commandant Career Level Education Board selectee to the Foreign Area Officer program. In August 2015, he reported to the Defense Language Institute and graduated the Korean language basic course in November 2016. From January to December 2017, he completed a one-year In-Country-Training tour in Seoul, South Korea and participated in Exercise Ulchi Freedom Guardian 2017 as the LNO to the Republic of South Korea, Combined Forces Command J-5.
Major Duddy reported to 1st Battalion, 2d Marine Regiment in December 2017 and assumed command of Weapons Company. He deployed with Battalion Landing Team 1/2 as part of the 22d Marine Expeditionary Unit, Special Operations Capable, to the Mediterranean Sea and 5th Fleet Area of Responsibility from December 2018 to July 2019. He assumed command of Alpha Company in April 2019.
Major Duddy reported to Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group in Fort Story, Virginia on 16 December 2019. He was assigned to the INDOPACOM Regional Section and worked as the Engagement Head where he had frequent opportunities to work with and assess foreign security forces. Additionally, he served as the Officer-In-Charge of the AFRICOM Regional Section.
Major Duddy reported to Task Force 51/5th Marine Expeditionary Brigade in October, 2021 and joined the Operations, Plans team. He worked as a Theater Security Cooperation planner where he served as lead planner for several bi-lateral capstone exercises with partner nations throughout the CENTCOM AO.
Major Duddy reported to 2d Battalion, 2d Marines in October 2022 and assumed the billet of battalion Executive Officer where he oversaw the battalion staff in the execution of a pre-deployment work up, deployment for training to Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, 29 Palms, and a deployment to Okinawa, Japan.
Major Duddy reported to 2d Marine Division, G-3 in March 2024 and served as an 0302 exercise planner assisting in multiple division level planning efforts and the lead division LNO to Marine Corps Recruiting Command efforts.
Major Duddy checked in to 1st Battalion, 24th Marines, 25th Marine Regiment in August 2024 and assumed the duties and responsibilities of Weapons Company Inspector-Instructor in Perrysburg, Ohio.
Major Duddy earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Indiana University in 2002 and a Master’s Degree in International Security Studies, NE Asia, from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2016. He is a graduate of the Expeditionary Warfare School Distance Education Program and the Command and Staff College Distance Education Program.
