Major Alston is a native of Mount Holly, New Jersery. He graduated from Louis E. Dieruff High School, in Allentown Pennsylvania in 2003 and enlisted in the Marine Corps shortly thereafter. He attended recruit training in 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. Then he attended School of Infantry-East, at Camp Geiger.
Private First Class Alston was then assigned to 3d Battalion 8th Marines in December of 2003 where he participated in Operation Secure Tomorrow in Port-au-Prince, Haiti in 2004, In 2005 Lance Corporal Alston deployed to Fallujah in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom III as a Team Leader. In 2005 upon returning to the United Stated Lance Corporal Alston was promoted to Corporal. In 2006 Corporal Alston deployed to Ramadi, Iraq as a Squad Leader in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom V.
After his deployment his deployment in 2006 he reached his end of active service date in July of 2007. He then attended DeSales University, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice in May of 2010.
In October of 2010, Candidate Alston attended Officer Candidate School and in January of 2011 he attended The Basic School. Second Lieutenant Alston also graduated from Infantry Officer Course in August of 2011.
In 2011, Second Lieutenant Alston Alston was assigned to 3d Battalion, 2nd Marines where he filled the billet of Platoon Commander and Weapons Platoon Commander. He deployed on the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit in 2013.
In 2014 Captain Alston was then assigned to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island where he held the billets of Field Training Platoon Commander, Field Training Company Commander, and Marksmanship Training Company Commander.
In January of 2018, Captain Alston received orders to Company C, 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division in Camp Pendleton California where he held the billet of Company Commander.
In July of 2020, he received orders to Bravo Company, 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 4th Marine Division in Fort Detrick, Maryland where he holds the billet of Inspector-Instructor.
Major Alston's personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star in lieu of second award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with gold star in lieu of second award and Combat V device, and the Combat Action Ribbon with gold star in lieu of second award.
