Sergeant Major Robert K. Lusk

Sergeant Major Robert Kenneth Lusk is a native of Los Angeles, California, and enlisted in the Marine Corps on 1 July 1996 from his hometown of Roseville, California. Following recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, he attended Marine Combat Training, Infantry Training Battalion Camp Pendleton, California.

Sergeant Major Lusk completed the Ground Radio Repair Course at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in 29 Palms, California, earning the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 2841, Ground Radio Repairman. He was then assigned to the 4th Motor Transport Maintenance Battalion in Sacramento, California where he served as a radio operator. 

In March 1999, he reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron 473 in Fresno, California where he served as a Ground Radio Repairman. 

In January 2002 Sergeant Major Lusk transferred to 4th Force Reconnaissance Company Reno, Nevada, serving as Headquarters Platoon Sergeant and Company Radio Chief. He was activated in June 2005 and attached to the 2d Force Reconnaissance Company, deploying forward in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, serving as 7th Reconnaissance Platoon Communications Chief. 

In August 2007 he was again activated and assigned to 3d Reconnaissance Battalion and deployed forward in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom serving as 1st Platoon, Echo Company, Communications Chief. 

In June 2009, he returned to the 4th Force Reconnaissance Company in Alameda, California where he held the billet of Communications Chief. 

In May 2011, Sergeant Major Lusk was selected to stand up the new Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force at Naval Air Station Sigonella, Italy, supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. During this period, he deployed forward to Africa holding the billets of Marine Air Ground Task Force Communications Chief, Operational Engagement Team Platoon Sergeant, and Operational Engagement Team Platoon Commander. 

In May 2013, he was assigned as the Company First Sergeant of Company D, 4th Reconnaissance Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Albuquerque, New Mexico where he supported the training and deployment of Marines into the Southern Command area of operation. 

In May 2017, Sergeant Major Lusk was reassigned as the Company First Sergeant, Headquarters Company, 23d Marine Regiment in San Bruno, California, 

In May 2018, he received orders as the Sergeant Major for 4th Force Reconnaissance Company, Alameda, California where he oversaw the deactivation of the unit as part of Force Design 2030, and transition to Alpha Company, 4th Reconnaissance Battalion. 

In March 2020, Sergeant Major Lusk was assigned to 3d Force Reconnaissance Company, 4th Marine Division, Mobile, Alabama. During this period, he supported the training and deployment of Marines into the Southern Command area of operation and Indo-Pacific Command region. 

In July 2021, while still serving as the Sergeant Major for 3d Force Reconnaissance Company, Sergeant Major Lusk provided Senior Enlisted guidance for an Operational Planning Team, sponsored by the Commandant of the Marine Corps, supporting Force Design 2030. In October of the same year, he began serving as the Senior Enlisted Leader for the Marine Innovation Unit, concurrently filling two Sergeant Major billets; continuing until his formal assignment as the unit's first Sergeant Major in 
July 2022 in Newburgh, New York.

In May 2024, Sergeant Major Lusk received orders to report as the Sergeant Major of 1st Civil Affairs Group, Camp Pendleton, California.

His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with a Gold Star, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with a Combat Distinguishing Device, Combat Action Ribbon, and Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
