Lieutenant Colonel Drew completed Officer Candidate School (OCS) and was commissioned as a second lieutenant on 13 August 2004. After graduating with distinction from The Basic School and Basic Communication Officer’s Course in 2005, Second Lieutenant Drew reported to 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Okinawa, Japan where he served in MWCS-18, MAG-36, and the Marine Aircraft Wing G-6. During this period, he participated in Operations SEA ANGEL II and CARING RESPONSE as well as more than 15 major, joint/combined security cooperation exercises.
In 2009, Captain Drew reported to Marine Corps Bases Japan where he served in the G-6 Division and as Commander, Company B, Headquarters and Service Battalion. He directly supported Operations TOMODACHI and PASSIFIC PASSAGE.
Captain Drew attended Expeditionary Warfare School and Advanced Communication Officer’s Course from 2011 to 2012. Upon graduation, he was assigned to OCS as a platoon commander and staff instructor. After augmenting OCS in 2012, Captain Drew reported to 9th Communication Battalion, Camp Pendleton, CA where he deployed to Operation ENDURING FREEDOM as the Battalion (FWD) Operations Officer.
Major Drew transitioned from active duty to the reserves in 2014 and joined MWCS-48 in Great Lakes, IL as the Assistant Operations Officer and, later, Commander, Detachment A (FWD), MWCS-48 in Miramar, CA. In 2016, Major Drew transferred to I Marine Expeditionary Force where he served as an action officer in the G-6 Division (Individual Mobilization Augmentee).
Currently, Lieutenant Colonel Drew serves as the National Military Command System Cyber Officer, in the National and Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications Division, J-36, Joint Staff (Individual Mobilization Augmentee).
Lieutenant Colonel Drew graduated from Expeditionary Warfare School (Distinguished Graduate), Advanced Communication Officer’s Course (Honor Graduate), and Marine Corps Command and Staff College. He is currently attending Army War College Distance Education Program.
Lieutenant Colonel Drew also holds a Master of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Telecommunications and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, both from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
His personal decorations include Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal with gold star in lieu of second award, and Humanitarian Service Medal with bronze star in lieu of second award.
