Lieutenant Colonel Patrick H. Joseph
Executive Officer
23D MARINE REGIMENT

Lieutenant Colonel Joseph was commissioned in March 2005 upon graduation from Officer Candidates Course 188. After completing the Basic Officer and Infantry Officer Courses, he was assigned to 3d Battalion, 2nd Marines serving as a Rifle Platoon Commander and Company Executive Officer. During this time, he deployed twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Lieutenant Colonel Joseph reported to Tactical Training Exercise Control Group (TTECG), in Twentynine Palms, CA, in August of 2008. He served as a Maneuver and Fire Support Team InstructorController, in support of the Enhanced Mojave Viper and Integrated Training Exercise service-level training exercises.

In 2011 Lieutenant Colonel Joseph reported to Marine Corps Base, Quantico to attend the Expeditionary Warfare School. Upon completion of career level school, he served as a staff platoon commander and instructor aboard Brown Field at Officer Candidates School.

Lieutenant Colonel Joseph was subsequently assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines aboard Camp Pendleton in August of 2012. He served as Company Commander, Company G for 21 months. During this time the Battalion deployed to Okinawa as the Battalion Landing Team (BLT) for the 31st MEU. Company G served as the mechanized company for Exercise TALISMAN SABER. In the summer of 2014, Lieutenant Colonel Joseph reported to 5th Marine Regiment and served as Regimental Assistant Operations Officer, and the Headquarters Company Commander. In July of 2015, Lieutenant Colonel transitioned from active duty to the selected marine corps reserve.

Lieutenant Colonel Joseph reported to the 23d Marine Regiment in September of 2015 where he served as the Assistant Operations Officer and Headquarters Company Commander. In 2019 he mobilized for 15 months for a deployment with Taskforce Southwest 19.2 to Helmand Province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to as Team Deputy for a police advising team.

Lieutenant Colonel Joseph reported to 1st Battalion, 23d Marines in Houston, TX. in November of 2020 where he served as Battalion Executive Officer until his subsequent selection for command and assignment to 2d Battalion, 23rd Marines headquartered in Pasadena, CA. Lieutenant Colonel Joseph relinquished command in December of 2023. He is currently assigned as the Regimental Executive Officer, 23d Marine Regiment.

Lieutenant Colonel Joseph is a graduate of EWS and Command and Staff College (Blended Seminar). He has also attended and graduated from the Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) Course, the Tactical MAGTF Integration Course (TMIC), and the Military Advisor Course (MAC).

His personal awards include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (Gold Star in lieu of second award), Navy Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon (Gold Star in lieu of second award).

He holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and an MS in Education Administration from National University.
