Lieutenant Colonel David A. Mabon

23D MARINE REGIMENT

Lieutenant Colonel David Mabon enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve in October 1999 and served as an Artillery Cannon Crewman with Charlie Battery, 1st Battalion, 14th Marines from 2000 to 2005.

Following graduation, he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom providing base security at Camp Fallujah, Iraq. Commissioned in 2007, he completed The Basic School and Infantry Officer’s Course and subsequently served with Echo Company, 2d Battalion, 24th Marines.

In February 2013, Capt Mabon assumed command of Fox Company, 2d Battalion, 24th Marines. While in command, he led the company through Integrated Training Exercise 2013, Mountain Exercise 2014, and Commando Phoenix. In January 2015, he assumed command of Headquarters and Service Company, 2d Battalion, 24th Marines, where he supervised preparations and support for the Korean Marine Exchange Program and Integrated Training Exercise 2017.

In May 2019, Major Mabon mobilized on Site Individual Augmentation Support orders as the Inspector-Instructor for Weapons Company, 2d Battalion, 23rd Marines. In 2020, he deployed with Georgian Liaison Team–11 to the Republic of Georgia and Afghanistan, providing training and liaison support to Georgian Defense Forces responsible for base security at Bagram Airfield.

Lieutenant Colonel served as Battalion Commander, 2d Battalion, 24th Marines from 2023 to 2025 completing two service level training exercises.

Lieutenant Colonel Mabon holds BBA and MBA degrees from the University of Iowa and is a graduate of Command & Staff College (DEP) and Joint Combined Warfare School–Hybrid.
