Captain Mark A. Gutierrez is currently the Inspector - Instructor for Waco, Maintenance Company, Combat Logistics Battalion - 453, Combat Logistics Regiment - 4, Waco, Texas.
Captain Gutierrez is a native of Cleburne, TX. He attended Basic training at MCRD San Diego, California in 2006. Upon Graduation, he transferred to Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland to become a 2171, Electro/Optics Technician. After completing his training, Private First Class Gutierrez entered the fleet Marine Corps in April 2007, reporting to Combat Logistics Battalion-7, Twentynine Palms, California. During his time there, he served as the Optics Chief and Platoon MIMMS clerk.
In December 2009, Corporal Gutierrez was ordered to 11th Marine Regiment, Camp Pendleton, California where he served as the Ordnance Chief. In March 2011, Sergeant Gutierrez attached TAD to Battery R, 5th Battalion, 11th Marines for deployment to Afghanistan ISO OEF 11.2 as the HIMARS Maintenance Chief from July 2011- Jan 2012.
In January 2013, Sergeant Gutierrez was ordered to Detachment 4, 4th Tank Battalion Hialeah, FL where he served as the SABER Maintenance Chief. Due to FSRG, Detachment 4 transitioned to 4th Civil Affairs Group in April 2014 where he served as the Ordnance Chief.
In March 2015, Staff Sergeant Gutierrez was ordered to Ordnance Maintenance Company, 1st Maintenance Battalion, Camp Pendleton, CA where he served as a Platoon Sergeant and Maintenance Chief.
In Jan 2016, Staff Sergeant Gutierrez attended Warrant Officer Basic Course at The Basic School and was selected to serve as a Weapons Repair Officer (MOS - 2120).
In July 2016, Warrant Officer Gutierrez was ordered to 1st Battalion, 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, CA where he served as the Battalion Ordnance Officer, Radiation Safety Officer, and Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives Officer.
In June 2018, CWO2 Gutierrez was ordered to 5th Battalion, 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, CA where he served as the Battalion Ordnance Officer, Radiation Safety Officer, and Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives Officer.
In July 2019, CWO2 Gutierrez was ordered to, III MEF Information Group, Okinawa, Japan where he served as the Group Ordnance Officer, Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives Officer, and Maintenance Management Officer. Upon conclusion of this tour, he completed his Expeditionary Warfare School, Distance Education.
In July 2020, CWO3 Gutierrez was ordered to 4th Marine Regiment, 3D Marine Division, Okinawa, Japan where he served as the Regimental Ordnance Officer, Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives Officer, and Ammunition OIC before being selected to the FY22 Limited Duty Officer program to serve as an Ordnance Officer (MOS - 2102).
In August 2021, Captain Gutierrez was ordered to FSMAO-WP, Headquarters Battalion, MCI-PAC, Okinawa, Japan where he served as the Future Operations Officer.
In July 2022, Captain Gutierrez was ordered to Maintenance Company, CLB-453, CLR-4, Waco, Texas where he currently serves as the Inspector-Instructor.
Personal awards and education include four Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals and an Associate of Science Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology.
