Captain Jesse A. Brackeen

Captain Brackeen enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on 19 July 2004 in Springfield, Missouri. He reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego on 24 May 2005 and graduated recruit training on 19 August 2005 and was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class. Private First Class Brackeen then reported to the School of Infantry - West at Camp Pendleton, California.

Private First Class Brackeen graduated the Infantry Training Battalion on 9 November 2005 with the MOS of 0341 and subsequently checked into Weapons Company, 3rd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment (3/24) in Springfield, Missouri and was assigned to the 81mm Mortar Platoon as an Assistant Gunner. In February of 2006 he was promoted to Lance Corporal and shortly thereafter assigned to Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment in Perrysburg, Ohio ahead of a unit mobilization.

In June of 2006, Lance Corporal Brackeen was activated along with 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment (1/24) and departed for Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. There he completed the 1st Marine Division Schools Forward Observer Course and was assigned as the 81s Forward Observer for Bravo Company and Weapons Company 1/24.

In September of 2006, Lance Corporal Brackeen deployed to Fallujah, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 5 - 7.2 and served as a 81s Forward Observer and Vehicle Dismount. Upon redeployment in April of 2007, Lance Corporal Brackeen returned to Weapons Company, 3/24 and resumed duties as a Forward Observer. In December of 2007, Lance Corporal Brackeen transferred to the Active Component and received orders to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment (1/3) aboard Marine Corp Base Hawaii.

Upon reporting into 1/3, Lance Corporal Brackeen was assigned to 81s Platoon, Weapons Co. as a Forward Observer. In September of 2009, Lance Corporal Brackeen was deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan where he served as a Team Leader with 81s Platoon until redeployment to MCB Hawaii in April of 2010. In June of 2010 he was Combat Meritoriously promoted to Corporal. In July of 2010, Corporal Brackeen attended the Infantry Mortar Leaders Course at the Infantry Training Battalion - West and graduated in September of 2010.

In May of 2011 Corporal Brackeen received orders to Weapons Training Battalion - Edson Range where he served as a Field Instructor until September of 2013. During this time he completed resident Corporals Course, Martial Arts Instructor Course (Green), and was promoted to Sergeant in January of 2013.

In September of 2013, Sergeant Brackeen reported to 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment (3/5) and was assigned to Kilo Co. as the Mortar Section Leader. From May to October of 2014 Sergeant Brackeen was deployed to MCB Hansen as part of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. Upon redeployment, Sergeant Brackeen was selected for the Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning Education Program and attended Officer Candidate School from January through March of 2015, graduating third overall. Upon graduation he returned to 3/5.

In July of 2015 Sergeant Brackeen reported to the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of Missouri - Columbia where he majored in History. In October of 2016 he was promoted to Staff Sergeant. He graduated with a Baccalaureate of Arts in History in December of 2017 and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant.

Second Lieutenant Brackeen reported to The Basic School in May of 2018 and graduated in November of 2018 within the top ten percent of his class. After completing the Logistics Officer Course, Second Lieutenant Brackeen reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron 372 (MWSS-372) aboard MCB Camp Pendleton. He served as the S-3 Training Officer and Motor Transport Platoon Commander and was promoted to First Lieutenant in December of 2019. In September of 2020 he deployed to Kuwait as the Marine Wing Support Detachment Operations Officer for Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force - Crisis Response - Central Command. Upon redeployment he was assigned as the S-4 OIC for MWSS-372. He was promoted to Captain in May of 2021.

In August of 2022 Captain Brackeen reported into Maintenance Service Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 25 to serve as the  Inspector - Instructor for New Haven, Connecticut.

Captain Brackeen's personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal w/ one gold star.
