First Sergeant Shawn M. Fritton
Inspector - Instructor, Unit Senior Enlisted Leader
Detachment 1, Transportation Services Company

Shawn M. Fritton was is a native of Lockport, NY and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in July 2005. He attended Recruit Training aboard Parris Island, South Carolina and graduated in October 2005 from Echo Company Platoon 2085. In November 2005, Private Fritton graduated from Marine Combat Training aboard Camp Lejuene and continuing on to his MOS training aboard NAS Pensacola and NAS Whidbey Island, PFC Fritton was meritoriously promoted to Lance Corporal after becoming the course Honor Graduate. Upon graduation from MOS school LCpl Fritton was assigned his first duty station at VMAQ-4, MAG-14, MCAS Cherry Point.

While assigned to VMAQ-4, LCpl Fritton's duties included Fixed Wing Aircraft Mechanic EA-6B, Plane Captain, and Aircraft Painter. Where he supported on UDP to MCAS Iwakuni and a deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2008. Once promoted to Corporal in April of 2008 he assumed duties as day crew shift supervisor and Collateral Duty Inspector. In March of 2009 Cpl Fritton deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

After returning from deployment, in December of 2009 Corporal Fritton was promoted to Sergeant and assumed the duties of Quality Assurance Representative. While assigned as a Quality Assurance Representative he participated in multiple detachments to MCAS Yuma AZ, Eielson AFB AK, Nellis AFB, NV, and Eglin AFB, FL taking part in various training events.

April 2011 saw Sergeant Fritton deploy to Bagram AFB Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Upon return from deployment Sergeant Fritton took on the responsibilities as Division Chief for the Powerline Division and participated in the Unit Deployment Program to Iwakuni Japan in January 2013, while there, Sergeant Fritton attended Sergeants Course and was designated as a distinguished graduate within the course. Upon return from deployment Sergeant Fritton again took part in multiple training detachments.

In May 2014 he was promoted to Staff Sergeant and deployed to Al Udied AFB, Qatar in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Inherent Resolve, as SNCOIC of the Quality Assurance Division.

Staff Sergeant Fritton received orders to School Of Infantry-East in June 2015, where he served in various billets, including Squad Instructor, Instructor Group Instructor, Weapons & Tactics Senior Instructor, Platoon Sergeant and, Platoon Commander. In August 2018 he was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant.

After a MOS change and initial level schooling GySgt Fritton received orders to VMFA-122, MAG-13, MCAS Yuma AZ where he performed duties as Maintenance Controller and Powerline Division Chief, and Quality Assurance Chief. Standing 2 Maintenance Program Assessments inspections, taking part in 2 training detachments to MCAS Miramar, California and Volk Field AFB, Wisconsin. He also served as the RBE SNCOIC for several detachments as well as taking on duties as Squadron Gunnery Sergeant and ASWO.

In February 2022, GySgt Fritton was assigned to VMFA-214, as the Quality Assurance Chief and performed duties facilitating a transition from the AV8-B to the F-35B including unit sundown, re-designation and stand up. He was selected and frocked to 1stSgt in March of 2023 and was in receipt of orders to 2nd Battalion, 10th Marines where he served as the Battery F Senior Enlisted Leader. While assigned to 2/10 1stSgt Fritton participated in Rolling Thunder 2-23, Service Level Training Exercise 5-23, Rolling Thunder 4-23 and Deployed with his battery in support of UDP 24.2 to Okinawa Japan in April 2024. Upon return from deployment, 1stSgt Fritton was in receipt of orders to CLR-45 where he currently serves as the I&I 1stSgt for Transport Services Company Detachment 1 aboard MCB Stone Bay.

1stSgt Fritton's personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 gold stars in lieu of 3rd award) and Navy an Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 gold stars in lieu of 4th award)
