Col Kreider graduated from the University of Maine in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. Having worked for several years in the private sector, he decided to join the Marine Corps, graduating from Officer Candidate School in 1995. After 7 years of active duty, Col Kreider transferred to Marine Forces Reserve in 2002.
Col Kreider’s operational assignments include Senior Reserve Advisor/Deputy Commander, Combat Logistics Regiment 4 from June 2023 to present; Reserve Chief of Staff and Deputy Rear Area Commander, III MEF from June 2018 to September 2020; Battalion Commander, 1st Battalion, 24th Marines from Nov 2012 to Nov 2014; Logistics Officer and Executive Officer, 1st Battalion, 25th Marines from April 2010 to Nov 2012; Company Commander, General Support Motor Transport Company, 6th Motor Transport Battalion from June 2006 to September 2008; Officer in Charge, Direct Support Company, 6th Motor Transport Battalion from December 2004 to June 2006; Executive Officer and Company Commander, Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 25th Marines from December 2003 to December 2004; Officer In Charge, Motor Transport Section, MWSS 271 from October 1996 to June 1998.
His deployments include 2003 with 1st Battalion, 25th Marines as a Platoon Commander to Mindanao, Philippines in support of Operations NOBLE EAGLE and ENDURING FREEDOM where he served as the Security Platoon Commander for the Joint SPMAGTF; 2005 with Combat Logistics Battalion 2 as Company Commander, Transportation Support Company in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM; 2011-2012 as Executive Officer, 1st Battalion, 25th Marines supporting Operation ENDURING FREEDOM Afghanistan; Col Kreider also deployed to Norway in 1998 and Morrocco in 2006 to support MAGTF level exercises STRONG RESOLVE and AFRICAN LION.
Col Kreider’s joint and supporting establishment assignments include MARFORNORTH Liaison Officer to both NAVNORTH JFMCC, Fleet Forces Command and Commander, NORTHCOM from October 2020 to June 2023; Global Force Management Planner and DSCA Actions Officer, Joint Staff J-35 from December 2014 to April 2018; MARFORNORTH Marine Emergency Preparedness Officer, Region 1 FEMA from July 2009 to April 2010; Operations Officer and Executive Officer, Marine Corps Recruiting Station, Portsmouth, NH from June 1999 to November 2002; S4 Officer, H&HS, MCAS Cherry Point from June 1998 to June 1999.
He is a graduate of Marine Corps Command and Staff College, Army War College and Advanced Joint PME Course, Joint Forces Staff College.
His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and Select Marine Corps Reserve Medal.
