Major Christopher W. Schnackenberg
Company Commander
H&S Co., 4th Combat Engineer Battalion

Major Christopher W. Schnackenberg currently serves as the Company Commander for Headquarters and Service Company, 4th Combat Engineer Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve, located in Baltimore, Maryland. 
 
Major Schnackenberg is a native of Amsterdam, New York. He commissioned in the United States Marine Corps upon graduation from The Citadel in May 2013 and reported to The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia in April 2014, followed by Combat Engineer Officer Course in Courthouse Bay, Camp Lejeune.
 
He reported to his first command, Combat Assault Battalion, 3d Marine Division, Camp Schwab, Okinawa in March 2015, where he served as Platoon Commander, Company Executive Officer, and Battalion Training Officer, as well as the installation Range Control Officer for Camp Fuji, Japan. Throughout this tour, he participated in several large scale exercises across Okinawa, mainland Japan, and the Republic of Korea before receiving PCS orders to MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina in 2018. 
 
In May 2018, he reported to 2d Recruit Training Battalion, MCRD Parris Island, where he served as a Series Commander and Range Company Commander overseeing recruit training as well as entry level marksmanship training. In May 2021, he received orders to 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 2d Marine Logistics Group, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he was assigned as the Headquarters and Service Company Commander. He served in this capacity, as well as the Current Operations Officer for Combat Readiness Regiment, 2d Marine Logistics Group, before leaving Active Duty in 2024.
 
In March 2025, Major Schnackenberg joined the United States Marine Corps Reserve and reported to Charlie Company, 4th Combat Engineer Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Lynchburg, Virginia, where he served as Company Executive Officer until he transferred to Headquarters and Service Company in Baltimore, Maryland, where he currently serves as Company Commander. 
 
Major Schnackenberg holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from The Citadel, and is currently enrolled in The Citadel's Master of Arts program for Intelligence and Security Studies.
