Captain Martinez is a native of Waco, Texas. He graduated and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in May 2016 from the United States Naval Academy. Upon completion of the Basic School and Marine Artillery Officer Basic Course (MAOBC) in 2017, he reported to 2d Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment where he assumed the duties as the Fire Direction Officer for Battery G.
Captain Martinez assumed additional duties of Headquarters Platoon Commander from April-October 2018 and Battery Executive Officer from October 2018 - January 2020. During his time with Battery G, Captain Martinez deployed on the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). During 31st MEU 19.2, Battery G was a part of Battalion Landing Team 2d Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment which participated in Exercise Talisman Saber 19.2 with the Australian Defence Forces and Dragon Viper in the Republic of Korea. Upon redeployment, Capt Martinez served as the Deputy Assistant Fire Support Coordinator for 5th Marine Regiment and 2/11's Regimental Fire Support Team.
Capt Martinez reported to Marine Corps Detachment, Fort Sill, Oklahoma in June 2020. Capt Martinez instructed two Officer classes, Marine Artillery Officer Basic Course 1-21 and 7-22 as the primary Fire Support Instructor. At Fort Sill, Capt Martinez earned the additional MOS 0952, Formal School Officer Instructor.
In June 2021, Capt Martinez assumed command of Battery M, Marine Corps Detachment, Fort Sill, Oklahoma. During Command, Captain Martinez led and managed daily accountability, physical fitness, instruction, and proper billeting to over 1,500 Marines aiding in the Marine Occupational Specialty (MOS) certification of Marines across seven MOS producing schools.
After completion of Field Artillery Captain's Career Course 2-23, Captain Martinez reported to 2d Battalion, 14th Marines in July 2023 where he currently holds the billet as Assistant Inspector-Instructor aboard Grand Prairie, Texas.
Captain Martinez's personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal with gold star in lieu of second award, and the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara.
