Captain Matthew T. Markee
Company Commander
Alpha Co., 4th Combat Engineer Battalion

Captain Markee is a native of Herndon, Virginia and graduated from Herndon High School in 2011. Following graduation from high school he attended Bridgewater College where he earned a Bachelor of Science in political science in 2015. After completing his under graduate degree attended James Madison University where he earned a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in international relief and stabilization operations in 2017. Upon completion of Officer Candidate School in March of 2018 he was commissioned into the United States Marine Corps as a 2ndLt.

Following his commissioning, graduation from the Basic School and the Basic Engineer Officer's Course, 2ndLt Markee checked in to Company C, 4th Combat Engineer Battalion (CEB), 4th Marine Division in Lynchburg, Virginia. Shortly after checking in, 2ndLt Markee left for his personal development tour with Company A, 8th Engineer Support Battalion (ESB), 2d Marine Logistics Group in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. While with Company A, 8th ESB 2ndLt Markee served as a Platoon Commander and the Company Commander, He participated in Integrated Training Exercise (ITX) 4-19 and Type Commander Amphibious Training 20-1. In March of 2020 2ndLt Markee completed his personal development tour with 8th ESB and returned to Company C, 4th CEB. During this time 1stLt Markee served as a platoon commander during ITX 5-21 and the Company Executive Officer/Platoon Commander during Eager Lion 2022 in Aqaba, Jordan.

From November 2022 to November 2023 Captain Markee served as the Assistant Operations Officer / S-3A for 4th CEB. During the summer of 2023 Captain Markee attached to Co A, 4th CEB to serve as the Company Executive Officer during ITX 4-23.

In December of 2023 Capt Markee took command of Co A, 4th CEB. In May of 2024 Capt Markee served as the S-3A and the Anti-Terrorism Force Protection Officer for the Marines aboard Camp Titin for Eager Lion 2024.

Captain Markee works as a superintendent for a contracting company where he has led a wide variety of construction projects in the DC metropolitan area. He has experience in tenant fit out, heavy industrial, mission critical/data centers, and SCIF/IC705 construction. H

Captain Markee's Personal Awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
