Major Steven W. Wagner
Inspector - Instructor
Company G, 2d Battalion, 23d Marines

Major Wagner is a native of Palm Springs, California. He graduated from The United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in History and was commissioned in May 2014.

Upon completion of TBS and IOC he was assigned to 1st Battalion, 1st Marines in June 2015 for duty as a Rifle Platoon Commander.

From June 2015 to May 2018, Major Wagner served as a Rifle Platoon Commander and Company Executive Officer for Company C. He deployed twice in support of Marine Rotational Force - Darwin and the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, serving as 3rd Platoon  Commander from June 2015 to November 2016 and Company Executive Officer from November 2016 to May 2018.

Following his tour with 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, Major Wagner was assigned to Recruiting Station San Diego where he served as the Officer Selection Officer (OSO) from May 2018 to July 2021. 

Following his OSO tour, Major Wagner attended resident Expeditionary Warfare School (EWS) in Quantico, Virginia from July 2021 to May 2022.

After completion of EWS, Major Wagner was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines where he served as the Assistant Operations Officer for Battalion Landing Team (BLT) 2/4 from June 2022 to June 2023 in support of the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) deployment.

In June 2023, Major Wagner assumed command of Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines.

In March 2024, Major Wagner assumed command of Headquarters and Service Company, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines.

From May-July 2024, Major Wagner executed the duties of Battalion Executive Officer, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines.

In July 2024, Major Wagner checked into 2d Battalion, 23d Marines and assumed the role of Inspector-Instructor for Company G where he is still serving.

His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with gold star in lieu of second award).
