Captain Tyler K. Horn is a native of Harrodsburg, Kentucky and graduated from Mercer County High School in 2009. Upon graduation he attended Eastern Kentucky University where he played collegiate football and received a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 2013. He then earned a Master of Science in Exercise Science from Eastern Kentucky University in 2014. In August of 2018 Captain Horn was commissioned into the United State Marine Corps through the Officer Commissioning Course.
After being commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, he attended The Basic School, and Engineer Officer’s Course. In July 2019 he checked in to Company D, 4th Combat Engineer Battalion (CEB) in Knoxville, Tennessee. There he assumed the role of 2nd Platoon Commander. His platoon integrated with 3/25 in support of training exercise Trojan Strike 2020 aboard Camp Barfoot. After promotion to First Lieutenant, he served as company Executive Officer. In March of 2022 Captain Horn was reassigned to Headquarters and Services (H&S) Company as Executive Officer. On June of 2022 he took command of H&S. As Company Commander H&S served as the command element for Exercise Eager Lion 2022 in Aqaba, Jordan where he served as the exercise Watch Officer. He also supported numerous other service level training exercises. In March 2023 he was promoted to Captain. In December 2023 Captain Horn finished his command at H&S and enrolled in Expeditionary Warfare School distance education program through the Marine Corps University. In August 2024 Captain Horn returned to Company D, 4th CEB and took command as Company Commander.
He works in marketing for a beverage company in Kentucky.
