Major Aleksandr Puleo is a native of Beaufort, SC. His father, also a Marine Corps Officer, completed 27 years of active duty service before retiring in 2012. Major Puleo commissioned in the United States Marine Corps through the NROTC Program, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia in May of 2012. After completing The Basic School he was assigned as a Ground Intelligence Officer and attended the Infantry Officer Course in Quantico, Virginia in July of 2013. He then reported to 3rd Marine Infantry Regiment in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii for On the Job Training (OJT) before attending the Ground Intelligence Officer Course and the Scout Sniper Unit Leaders Course in January of 2014.
In May of 2014, he reported to the Commanding Officer 3d Battalion, 3d Marines, where he served as the assistant Battalion Intelligence Officer and the Scout Sniper Platoon Commander. While at the Battalion he deployed as part of the Unit Deployment Program to Okinawa, Japan and participated in Rim of the Pacific Exercise 2014, Korean Military Exchange Program 2015, and Exercise Balikatan 2015.
In September of 2016, then 1st Lieutenant Puleo reported to HQUSSOUTHCOM in Doral, Florida and was assigned to the J2 Systems Division. While serving as the Intelligence Information Technology Requirements Manager he was a core member of the Common Awareness Architecture (CAA) CFT and assisted in the development of the CAA prototype and methodology. While serving in this billet he was promoted to the rank of Captain.
In March of 2018, Major Puleo assumed duties as the J2 Intelligence Directorate Executive Officer, where he participated in multiple CCMD level exercises including PANAMAX 2018 and Fused Response/Integrated Advance 2019. He also participated in the 2019 Venezuela crisis response.
In July of 2019, he reported to the Commanding Officer 2d intelligence Battalion and assumed command of the Direct Support Company. There, he attended the MAGTF Intelligence Officer Course (MIOC 20-1) from January to March of 2020 earning the 0209 MOS. In late 2020, he graduated from the non-Resident Expeditionary Warfare School Seminar Program before attending the Army Information Operations Planners Course in Ft. Belvoir, Virginia. From December 2020 to June 2021, he deployed to the CENTCOM AOR with Joint Special Operations Command as an Information Operations Planner. Upon return, he served as the Battalion Assistant Operations Officer for 2d Intelligence Battalion before being frocked to Major and assuming the billet as the Battalion Operations Officer. In November of 2022, Major Puleo reported to the MARSOC G2 and served as the G2 Future Operations Officer. There he attended the MAGTF Information Operations Planners Course in Norfolk, VA. In June of 2023 he reported to Inspector-Instructor, 4th Reconnaissance Battalion in San Antonio, Texas and is serving as the Charlie Company Inspector-Instructor and Battalion Executive Officer.
His personal decorations include Defense Meritorious Service Medal and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
