Major Kyle Blond currently serves as the Company Commander of Personnel Retrieval and Processing Company, Combat Logistics Regiment 45, 4th Marine Logistics Group, Marine Forces Reserve. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2012. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and attended the Basic School in 2012.
In August 2013, Second Lieutenant Blond completed the Aircraft Maintenance Officer Basic Course and subsequently reported to Marine Aircraft Group 36 in Okinawa, Japan. There, he held various aircraft maintenance officer positions, including Division Officer in Charge and Assistant Maintenance Department Head at Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 36 and Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 262 (Reinforced). He deployed twice with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, serving as the Air Combat Element Material Control Officer and Detachment Officer in Charge to support operations in the Indo-Pacific region.
In July 2016, First Lieutenant Blond joined the Naval Air Technical Data and Engineering Services Command in San Diego, California. He served as the Marine Corps Fleet Liaison and Southwest Region Officer in Charge, coordinating technical assistance requests for Navy and Marine Corps aviation units. While in San Diego, First Lieutenant Blond was promoted to Captain and completed a distance Master of Science in Systems Engineering through the Naval Postgraduate School.
In August 2019, Captain Blond transitioned to the Selected Marine Corps Reserve and joined Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 49 as the Assistant Maintenance Department Head. In November 2019, Captain Blond was assigned to Personnel Retrieval and Processing Company in Smyrna, Georgia, as the Executive Officer. There, he supervised the administration and operations of over 225 Marines at two geographic locations, supporting global mortuary affairs operations.
In 2021, Captain Blond enrolled in the Command and Staff College Distance Education Program and began a professional Doctorate in Systems Engineering through Colorado State University. His doctoral research focused on the enterprise systems engineering of military aircraft maintenance programs. Captain Blond was promoted to Major in September 2022 and completed his doctorate in 2023, joining the Marine Innovation Unit the same year.
At the Marine Innovation Unit, Major Blond served as the Chief Engineer, contested logistics program manager, and project lead. He managed the unit’s portfolio of over 150 projects annually and led numerous force modernization projects, including advising on the Marine Corps Systems Command’s Condition Based Maintenance Plus project to deliver predictive maintenance capabilities to Fleet Marine Force ground vehicles.
In April 2025, Major Blond assumed command of Personnel Retrieval and Processing Company, where he currently serves.
In addition to his education, Major Blond is a certified Project Management Professional, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and holds a Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act Lifecycle Logistics Level I certification. He has also completed the Joint Mortuary Affairs Officer Course, Joint Aviation Maintenance and Material Management Course, and the Expeditionary Warfare School non-resident seminar. Major Blond holds the 6002 Aircraft Maintenance Officer and 0407 Mortuary Affairs Officer MOS. His personal decorations include two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals and a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
