Lieutenant Junior Grade Henry E. Lazo is a native of Los Angeles, California. His formal education includes the following degrees: Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, California State University Northridge 2016; Master of Divinity, Masters Seminary in 2021.
Lieutenant Junior Grade Lazo previous reserves assignment was as an enlisted infantryman in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. He was assigned to 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, Alpha Company 1st Platoon in Camp Pendleton, California, from 2007 -2015. In 2009, he deployed with 4th LAR to Afghanistan where his unit was tasked with conducting counter insurgency operations in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan. Much of their effort was directed towards drug interdiction and his unit often worked with the Afghan National Police in this effort.
He was first commissioned in the Navy Reserves as a Chaplain Candidate in 2016 and superseded as a Chaplain in the Navy Reserves in 2024. After completing training at Navy Chaplain School in Newport, Rhode Island, Lieutenant Junior Grade Lazo took indefinite recall orders to Marine Forces Reserve in 2025 supporting Headquarters Battalion.
His unit awards include the Navy Unit Commendation and Presidential Unit Citation.
Lieutenant Lazo is an ordained minister endorsed by the Independent Fundamental Churches of America (IFCA).
