Captain Hampe graduated from the University of North Texas in May 2020 with a bachelor's degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. He attended Officer Candidate School through the OCC program in the fall of 2020 and was commissioned on 11 November 2020. After graduating from The Basic School in November 2021, Captain Hampe attended the Marine Artillery Officer Basic Course at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He graduated as honor graduate from Fort Sill in May 2022.
Captain Hampe reported to Battery B, 1st Battalion, 12th Marines in May 2022 as a Fire Direction Officer . He participated in Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2022 at Pohakuloa Training Area on Hawaii island in July 2022, directing M777 cannon fires in support of the RIMPAC Fire Support Coordination Exercise.
In August 2022, Captain Hampe was assigned to Medium-Range Missile Battery, 3d Littoral Combat Team as a Fire Direction Officer. Captain Hampe participated in Marine Littoral Regment Training Exercise 2023 from January to February and Balikatan 2023 in April. He then served as Platoon Commander, 1st Platoon until October 2023 before being chosen to serve as Battery Executive Officer. As Executive Officer, he participated in the Initial Operation Testing and Evaluation (IOT&E) on the Navy Marine Expeditionary Ship Interdiction System (NMESIS).
Captain Hampe was assigned to III MEF in support of the Joint Training Team in October 2024. He served as an Advisor Lead, assisting and advising partner services on training and tactical employment of maneuver forces. He returned to 3d Littoral Combat Team in March 2025 and served as Battery Liaison Officer.
In May 2025, he was assigned to 5th Battalion, 14th Marines to serve as Inspector - Instructor for Battery O.
