Captain Brian P. Greenawalt
Site Commander

Captain Brian P. Greenawalt is a native of Portland, Oregon and moved throughout the country as a military child.  Brian graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 2020 with a Bachelors in Secondary Education, and a minor in History.  In the fall of 2020 Brian taught ninth grade civics at Bellwood-Antis High School.  During the winter of 2021 Brian attended the 10-week Officer Candidate Course aboard Officer Candidate’s School.  He commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 27 March 2021. He immediately reported for training to The Basic School in Quantico, VA.  

Graduating The Basic School in October of 2021, he PCS’d to Pensacola, FL to report to Marine Aviation Training Support Group – 21.  He redesignated to Logistics Officer in July of 2022.  He then reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 8 in September of 2022 to conduct on the job training.  2ndLt Greenawalt began the Logistics Officers Course in October of 2022, and graduated in December of 2022. Upon Graduation he returned to Combat Logistics Battalion 8 as the Current Operations Officer.  

As the Current Operations Officer 2ndLt Greenawalt assisted in planning and coordinating for Platoon, Company and Battalion level training events.  On 27 March of 2023 he promoted to First Lieutenant.  1stLt Greenawalt planned and lead the execution of CLB-8’s Battalion Field Exercise 23, culminating in a simulated Humanitarian Aid/Disaster Relief scenario in order to train for the battalion’s deployment in support of UNITAS 23.  During UNITAS 23 1stLt Greenawalt acted as the Port Operations Group OIC for the onload of the USS NEW YORK, and Beach Operations Group OIC for the offload of the USS NEW YORK.   

After the execution of UNITAS 23, 1stLt Greenawalt began duties as Combat Logistics Company Bravo’s Distribution Platoon Commander.  In this billet he oversaw Landing Support, Motor Transportation, ground maintenance and limited engineering capabilities.  In September of 2023 CLB-8 began an eight-month workup to deploy in April of 2024 in support of Marine Rotational Force – Europe 24.2.   

Upon deployment to Norway, 1stLt Greenawalt acted as the Advanced Echelon Commander.  During this phase of the deployment, he coordinated with Norwegian Defense Logistics Organization and Blount Island Command to successfully conduct CLC B’s the Marine Corps Prepositioning Program-Norway actions.  After the MCPP-N draw process was completed CLC B deployed to Sweden ISO BALTOPS 24 and Archipelago Endeavour 24.  During this time 1stLt Greenawalt lead the Reception, Staging, Onward Movement and Integration efforts for 5 adjacent Marine Corps units, and multiple NATO allies.  1stLt Greenawalt redeployed from Norway in September of 2024.   

Upon return from MRF-E 24.2 1stLt Greenawalt took command of CLB-8’s General Support Company in November of 2024. In this billet 1stLt Greenawalt oversaw all maintenance and supply functions within the battalion and led efforts to prepare the battalion for FSMAO inspection.  On 4 April 2025 he was promoted to Captain.  In April of 2025 GS company folded its colors and integrated with Headquarters and Services company.   

In late April of 2025 Captain Greenawalt PCS’d to Johnstown, PA where he took command of Detachment Alpha, Marine Wing Support Squadron – 471.
