Lieutenant Colonel J. T. DiRico
Commanding Officer
6th Engineer Support Battalion

Lieutenant Colonel DiRico is a native of Apple Valley, Minnesota, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, and a United States Coast Guard Third Assistant Engineer’s License for unlimited tonnage, steam or diesel, from the United States Merchant Marine Academy and was commissioned in 1997.

He has served as a Combat Engineer Platoon Commander in support of 1st Battalion 7th Marines and a Construction Platoon Commander at 1st Combat Engineer Battalion; a Motor Transport Officer, a Provisional Rifle Platoon Commander and Battalion Assistant Logistics Officer at 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion; an 81mm Mortar Platoon Commander, Assistant Fire Support Coordinator, and Weapons Company Executive Officer at 2nd Battalion 23rd Marines; the Engineer Services Company Commander at Combat Logistics Battalion 23; and the Battalion Executive Officer at 6th Engineer Support Battalion.

In 2003, then Captain DiRico was activated and deployed with 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion in support of Task Force Tarawa and Task Force Scorpion, Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.

Lieutenant Colonel DiRico is a graduate of the Light Armored Vehicle Leaders Course, Fire Support Coordination Center Course, Command and Staff College distance education program. He is married, with two children, and lives and works in Southern California. He has worked in the Commercial Construction industry for twenty years and currently works as a Senior Program & Construction Manager for a commercial building developer and construction management firm.
