Major Jacob P. Amon
Inspector-Instructor
HEADQUARTERS BATTERY, 5TH BATTALION, 14TH MARINE REGIMENT

Major Jacob Amon is a native of Youngstown, Ohio. After graduating from high school in 2011, he attended the United States Naval Academy Preparatory School in Newport, Rhode Island, before entering the United States Naval Academy. He graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science.

Upon commissioning, Major Amon reported to The Basic School in September 2016. Following graduation, he reported to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where he completed four months of on-the-job training with 2d Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment prior to attending the Marine Artillery Officer Basic Course (MAOBC). Upon completion of MAOBC, he returned to 2d Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment and was assigned to Battery F as a Platoon Commander.

In April 2017, Major Amon joined Task Force Southwest 19.1 as a Marine Artillery Advisor to the 215th Corps of the Afghan National Army. After a six-month pre-deployment workup, the unit deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan, in support of a Regional Military Training Center mission.

Following his return from Afghanistan, Major Amon served as the Battery Executive Officer for Headquarters Battery, 2d Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment until January 2020. He then transitioned to 3d Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, where he served as a Fire Support Officer until his PCS to Okinawa, Japan, in August 2020.

Upon arrival in Okinawa, Major Amon was assigned to 3d Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment and served as the Assistant Fire Support Coordinator (AFSC) to 4th Marine Regiment for a year. He subsequently returned to 3d Battalion, 12th Marines to serve as the Assistant Operations Officer where he served the following year. In May 2022, he was assigned as the 12th Marine Regiment AFSC to 3d Marine Division, a billet he held until his selection for Expeditionary Warfare School (EWS) in Quantico, Virginia, in May 2023.

After graduating from EWS in May 2024, Major Amon reported to Camp Pendleton, California, where he assumed command of Battery A, 1st Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment. As Battery Commander, he deployed Battery A to Okinawa, Japan in support of Unit Deployment Program 25.2 from May to November 2025. Upon completion of the deployment, he received orders to 5th Battalion, 14th Marines, to assume the responsibilities of Battalion Assistant Inspector-Instructor.
 
In February of 2026, Major Amon checked into 5th Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment where he currently serves as the Battalion Assistant Inspector-Instructor.

His personal awards include: the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Combat "C" Device and the Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal x2.
