Biography

 

Lieutenant Colonel David A. Mabon
Commanding Officer
2d Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment

David Mabon enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve on October 12, 1999. He served as an Artillery Cannon Crewman with Charlie Battery 1st BN 14th Marines in Waterloo, IA from April 2000 to May 2005 in a variety of billets including Recorder, Ammunition Technician, Assistant Gunner, and Gunner. During this period, he completed his Bachelor of Business Administration degree with majors in Finance and Economics at the University of Iowa in 2005.

Following graduation, he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom serving as base security for Camp Fallujah, Iraq.
 
Commissioned in 2007, he attended The Basic School and Infantry Officer’s Course. He reported to Echo Company 2d BN, 24th Marines in Des Moines, IA where he served until 2013.
 
In February 2013, he assumed command of Fox Company, 2d Bn, 24th Marines. Highlights included Integrated Training Exercise (ITX) 2013, Mountain Exercise (MTX) 2014, and Commando Phoenix, a bi-lateral training event with the British Royal Marine Reserves.
 
In January 2015, Captain Mabon assumed command of Headquarters & Service Company, 2d Bn, 24th Marines, where he supervised preparations and support for the Korean Marine Exchange Program 15-8 and ITX in 2017. 

In May 2019, Major Mabon mobilized one-year Site Individual Augmentation Support (SIAS) orders, filling the billet of Inspector-Instructor for Weapons Company, 2d Bn, 23d Marines in Port Hueneme, CA.
 
In 2020, Major Mabon again mobilized with Georgian Liaison Team-11, deploying to the Republic of Georgia and Afghanistan providing a training and liaison to the Georgian Defense Forces responsible for providing base security to Bagram Airfield. 

Major Mabon completed his MBA from the University of Iowa in 2021, and graduated from Joint Combined Warfare School-Hybrid in 2022.
  
While not serving in the Marine Corps, Lieutenant Colonel Mabon is an Associate Director with Collins Aerospace, a division of Raytheon Technologies Corporation. His responsibilities include intercompany loans, foreign currency exposure, managing banking relationships, and integration activities.   

Lieutenant Colonel Mabon’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
