Major Timothy E. Vermeer
Battery Commander
Mike Battery, 3rd Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment

Major Vermeer attended the Platoon Leaders Course and was commissioned on 9 August 2010. Upon completion of The Basic School, he attended the Artillery Officer Basic Course at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He was subsequently assigned to Battery R, 5th Battalion, 11th Marines.

In January 2013, Lieutenant Vermeer deployed with Battery R to Afghanistan as a fire direction officer and participated in combat operations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Returning from deployment in August 2013, Lieutenant Vermeer served as a platoon commander and executive officer in Battery R.

In June 2015, Captain Vermeer was assigned to Marine Barracks Washington where he served as the Guard Company Operations Officer. In November 2015, Captain Vermeer assumed responsibility as the Bravo Company, Third Platoon Commander. After a successful tour with the marching company, Captain Vermeer returned to Guard Company where he served as a platoon commander and executive officer.

Captain Vermeer was assigned to the White House Military Office in August 2017. He served as the Marine Security Company Executive Officer at Naval Support Facility Thurmont until August 2019.

In January of 2020, Major Vermeer joined 25th Marine Regiment where he served as the Fire Support Officer until August 2022. Prior to joining 3rd Battalion, 14th Marines in January 2025, Major Vermeer graduated from the Marine Corps Command and Staff College.

Major Vermeer’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2nd award), and the Presidential Support Badge.

Major Vermeer graduated from Calvin College in May 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and sociology. He graduated from Georgetown University with a Masters in Public Policy in May 2021.
