Sergeant Major Scott was born in Greensboro, North Carolina on 12 February 1976. Upon graduation, He attended North Carolina A & T State University majoring in Chemical Engineering. Opting to leave his junior year he headed to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina in March 2000.
After completion of his initial training he was designated an Electrical Equipment Repair Specialist. He attended MOS training at Courthouse Bay, Camp LeJeune NC. Upon graduation Private First Class Scott was assigned to Det 1 ELMACO, 4th Force Service Support Group, 4th Maintenance Battalion for duty where he served as Squad Leader.
During this period he was promoted to Lance Corporal in January 2001 and later that year he was meritorious promoted to Corporal. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in July 2004. After his promotion, Sergeant Scott was acting Platoon Sergeant as well as acting Shop Head.
In May 2005, Sergeant Scott was mobilized to support Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 6th Civil Affairs Group. While serving with 6th CAG, Sergeant Scott was utilized as the Security Chief, Civil Affairs NCO, and Electrician.
Upon returning from activation in 2006, Sergeant Scott transferred back to DET 1 ELMACO, 4th Force Service Support Group, 4th Maintenance Battalion as Utilities Chief.
Sergeant Scott was promoted to Staff Sergeant in November 2007. Staff Sergeant Scott then attended the Utilities Chief Course in May 2008. He graduated top of his class and was awarded the leadership award.
Upon his return to DET 1 ELMACO Staff Sergeant Scott was assigned to Utilities Chief, and went on to complete his degree in Industrial Science. Staff Sergeant Scott dropped to the IRR in April 2009 to complete his Electrical Contractors License.
In November 2009, Staff Sergeant Scott was attached to the MOBCOM IMA Detachment as Reserve Transition Coordinator at Cherry Point, North Carolina. April 2011, Staff Sergeant Scott was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.
During May 2012, Gunnery Sergeant Scott transitioned from Reserve Transition Retention Program to Detachment C Environmental Services Division at Charlotte, NC as the Detachment Chief. While serving as the Detachment Chief at ESD Gunnery Sergeant attended the SNCO Advanced Course. Upon graduation Gunnery Sergeant Scott returned to ESD Charlotte NC.
