Lieutenant Colonel Ademola D. Fabayo

6th Engineer Support Battalion

Lieutenant Colonel Fabayo enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserves in May 2000. He was assigned to Detachment-A Marine Wing Support Squadron-471, Marine Wing Support Group-47, 4th Marine Air Wing. In 2002, Corporal Fabayo was mobilized with Marine Wing Support Squadron 471 to support Operation Enduring Freedom. He graduated from Pennsylvania State University and was commissioned as a second lieutenant via the Platoon Leaders Course in May 2006.

After graduating from The Basic School and Combat Engineer Officer Course, he reported to Combat Engineer Company, Combat Assault Battalion, 3rd Marine Division in August 2007. He served as the Battalion Operation Officer and Combat Engineer Platoon Commander. Second Lieutenant Fabayo participated in multiple theater security exercises in the US INDOPACOM Area of Operation, including Korea, the Philippines, and Thailand, training foreign military, and supporting the US Department of State in facilitating Foreign Military Sales.

In July 2008, First Lieutenant Fabayo was deployed as the Combat Engineer Platoon Commander with Battalion Landing Team (BLT) 3/1 on the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). Upon returning from the MEU in July 2009, he was assigned to the 4th Marine Regiment with Embedded Transition Team (ETT) 2-8. He deployed to Afghanistan as a Foreign Security Force Advisor in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. First Lieutenant Fabayo served as a Team Leader/Operations officer while advising 1st Infantry Kandak, 2nd Brigade, 201st Corps in Kunar and Nuristan Province, Afghanistan.

In June 2010, Captain Fabayo reported to The Basic School where he served as the Primary Instructor for the Combat Engineering Package, Warfighting Instructor, Combat Engineer Platoon Commander, and Staff Platoon Commander (SPC) for Delta Company 4-12 and Bravo Company 2-13. In July 2013, Captain Fabayo attended Expeditionary Warfare School and then reported to the 7th Engineer Support Battalion as the Engineer Support Company Commander. In September 2015, Captain Fabayo transferred to Task Force Al Asad 16.1, 5th MEB. He served as a Foreign Security Force Advisor and Task Force Engineer Officer. In March 2016, Captain Fabayo deployed to Iraq as an advisor to the 7th Iraqi Army Division, conducting combat operations supporting Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR), and was promoted to the rank of Major. In January 2017, Major Fabayo transferred back to 1st Marine Logistics Group (MLG) to assume the role of G-3 Operations Officer. In June 2017, he reported to the 4th Combat Engineer Battalion, 4th Marine Division, and served as the Assistant Battalion Inspector-Instructor, Engineer Support Company, and H&S Company Inspector-Instructor from July 2017 until July 2020.

Major Fabayo graduated from the Marine Corps Command and Staff College on June 15, 2021. He reported to Headquarters Marine Corps, Plans, Policies, and Operations on August 1, 2021, and was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel on September 1, 2022. He was the Advocacy and Strategic Engagement Lead Action Officer for the Pacific Branch, Strategy and Plans Division.

Lieutenant Colonel Fabayo holds an associate degree, a bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University, and a master’s degree from Marine Corps University. His formal schools include the Joint Engineer Operations Course, Joint Humanitarian Operations, Mountain Operation Staff Planning Course, Advisor Training Group, Expeditionary Warfare School, and Marine Corps Command and Staff College. His personal awards include the Navy Cross, Meritorious Service Medal, three Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals (Combat V), and the Combat Action Ribbon.
