First Sergeant Jesus M. Barrios
Unit Senior Enlisted Leader
HEADQUARTERS BATTERY, 5TH BATTALION, 14TH MARINE REGIMENT

First Sergeant Barrios is a native of Los Angeles, California. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in January 2004 and attended Recruit Training at MCRD San Diego, CA. Upon completion of boot camp, he reported to Camp Pendleton, CA for School of Infantry-West and upon graduation earned the MOS of 0311.

In April 2004, Private First Class Barrios reported to 2nd Battalion, 23rd Marines Los Alamitos, CA. While there Corporal Barrios deployed to Iraq in 2009 in support of OIF as a Team Leader. Corporal Barrios got promoted to Sergeant and deployed to Okinawa, Japan in 2010, a part of the Landing Force Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (LFCARAT). Conducted bilateral training with the host nation in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and South Korea as a Squad Leader and Platoon Sergeant.

In December 2011, Sergeant Barrios received orders to 3rd Civil Affairs Group in Camp Pendleton, CA. Sergeant Barrios attended Civil Military Operations Course in Quantico, Virginia and obtained MOS 0531. In 2012 Sergeant Barrios deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan as an Assistant Patrol Leader and Patrol Leader. In 2013, Sergeant Barrios attended Sergeants Course in Quantico, VA. In 2015, Sergeant Barrios was promoted to Staff Sergeant and attended Career Course in Quantico, VA. In 2016, Staff Sergeant Barrios attended Civil Military Operations Planners Course in Quantico, VA and obtained MOS 0539. In 2017, Staff Sergeant Barrios attended Civil Military Operations G-9 Course in Quantico, VA. In 2017, Staff Sergeant Barrios attended annual training in the country of Georgia, city of Tbilisi as a Civil Affairs Specialist Instructor, training senior Georgian military staff deploying to Afghanistan.

In July 2018, Staff Sergeant Barrios attended Marine Corps Recruiters School as a Prior Service Recruiter at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California and obtained MOS 8411. Staff Sergeant Barrios received orders to 12th Marine Corps District, and was stationed in Seal Beach, California as a Production Recruiter.

In July 2021, Staff Sergeant Barrios received orders to Readiness Support Program One, as an Individual Mobilization Augmentee in Camp Telega, Camp Pendleton, California. Served as a Screening Specialist and as an Operations Chief. In June, 2022, Staff Sergeant Barrios got promoted to Gunnery Sergeant.

In August 2022, Gunnery Sergeant Barrios attended the United States Marshals Service National Training Academy at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers in Glynco, Georgia. Gunnery Sergeant Barrios currently serves as a Deputy U.S. Marshal/Criminal Investigator/International Investigative Liaison.

In November 2025, Gunnery Sergeant Barrios got promoted to First Sergeant and received orders to 5th Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment, Headquarters Battery in Seal Beach, California.

In December 2025, First Sergeant Barrios attended First Sergeants School in Quantico, Virginia. First Sergeant Barrios' personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars.
