Jeffrey P. Buege is a native of San Francisco, California. He was commissioned on 31 March 2012 via the Officer Candidate Course program. 2nd Lieutenant Buege attended The Basic School in Quantico, VA, with Delta Company, Class 4-12. He then attended the Field Artillery Basic Officer Leaders Course at Ft Sill, Oklahoma, and graduated with class 2-13 in May of 2013. Following BOLC, he attended Marine Artillery Officer Basic Course followed by the Joint Fires Observer Course, graduating both in June of 2013. After his initial MOS training, 2nd Lieutenant Buege was assigned to Battery T, 5th Battalion, 11th Marines.
From June 2013 to August 2014, Lieutenant Buege served in Battery T, 5/11 holding the billets of Fire Direction Officer and Battery Liaison Officer. In September 2014, 1st Lieutenant Buege was assigned to the Fire Support section of Headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion, 11th Marines, shortly afterwards he was attached to Company L, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines.
From September 2014 to January 2016, 1st Lieutenant Buege served as the Fire Support Team Leader for Company L, Battalion Landing Team 3/1. During that time, he deployed with the 15th MEU from May to December of 2015. After returning from deployment, 1st Lieutenant Buege was assigned as the Executive Officer for Headquarters Battery, 11th Marines, from January to June 2016.
In June 2016, 1st Lieutenant Buege reported to 1st Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company (ANGLICO), Camp Pendleton, CA. He was assigned to Supporting Arms Liaison Team (SALT) Bravo as a Firepower Control Team (FCT) Leader for FCT 4. 1st Lieutenant Buege attended Tactical Air Control Party School in Coronado, California from July-August 2016.
As FCT 4 Team Leader, he deployed in support of Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force – Crisis Response – Central Command 17.2/18.1. During that deployment Captain Buege supported Operation Inherent Resolve in Iraq with Task Force Lion as a Joint Terminal Attack Controller and later served as an Advisor for 3rd Brigade, 215th Corps of the Afghan National Army, as part of Task Force Southwest in Afghanistan.
From September 2018 to November 2019, Captain Buege served as the SALT Alpha Officer-in-Charge, attached to the 11th MEU. During that time SALT Alpha deployed as part of WESTPAC 19.1.
In March 2020, Captain Buege ended his active service and was part of the Inactive Ready Reserve until December of 2022, when he joined Headquarters Battery, 14th Marine Regiment as the Battery Executive Officer. In July of 2023 Major Buege assumed command of Headquarters Battery, 14th Marine Regiment. After Annual Training in June 2024, Major Buege relinquished command and transferred to November Battery 5th Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment. Major Buege assumed command of November Battery in July 2024.
Major Buege holds a bachelor’s degree in Writing, Literature, and Publishing from Emerson College. Major Buege’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Gold Star in lieu of second award.
