NEW ORLEANS -- Marine administrative message 065/17 solicits nominees for the 2017 Exceptional Sexual Assault Response Coordinator of the Year Award.
The Department of Defense Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office annually recognizes an active, reserve, or civilian SARC from each military service. It recognizes coordinators who demonstrate outstanding service in support of service members.
The deadline for commanders to submit nominees is Friday, Feb. 10, 2017.
One award will be presented to a SARC from each of the services including the Marine Corps, Navy, Army, Air Force, National Guard Bureau, and Coast Guard.
To be eligible, nominees must be military or federal government civilian, and certified through the DoD Sexual Assault Advocate Certification Program as a SARC.
In addition, nominees must be appointed in writing, be in good standing, and have served as the SARC on an installation, deployed environment, or in a reserve component during some or all of calendar year 2016.
