Commandant Issues Second Innovation Challenge

16 Mar 2017 | Lance Cpl. Dallas Johnson U.S. Marine Corps Forces Reserve

Marine administrative message 110/17 announces the second “Commandant’s Innovation Challenge”.

In his service strategy, the Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. Robert B. Neller, directs Marines to return to a maneuver warfare mindset.

“Our performance as an expeditionary force must be underpinned by the philosophy of maneuver warfare with a reliance on rapid and opportunistic decision-making and action, enabling distributed operations in all our tactical formations,” said Neller.

To meet the call to return to maneuver warfare, Marines are challenged to think of new ideas to enhance training and education.

Beginning March 1, 2017, the Innovation Challenge will be open for 30 calendar days to receive submissions. All submissions received after March 31 will be ineligible. Responses will be reviewed April 3-28, 2017, and Training and Education Command will notify the challenge winner(s) in May.

TECOM will judge ideas based on relevance, applicability, benefit, feasibility and collaboration.

Those interested should register at www.marines.mil/innovation. After registering, users can access the challenge site directly at www.mcwchallenge.md5.net to submit their ideas.
