Henderson received the Outstanding Military Non-Commissioned Officer award from the New Orleans Federal Executive Board during public recognition week for her “laudable managerial skills, superb leadership, drive, and determination.” She served in as a provisional military police officer in Al Ramadi, Iraq, and also served on the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa staff where she earned the Joint Service Achievement Medal.

MarForRes staff receives public recognition during awards luncheon

Several Marine Forces Reserve Marines and civilian employees received awards during a luncheon at the Audubon Nature Institute Tea Room here May 4.

     The New Orleans Federal Executive Board recognized outstanding public servants throughout New Orleans during Public Service Recognition Week May 1-7.

     According to the Partnership for Public Service and the Public Employees Roundtable, Public Service Recognition week has been conducted annually since 1985 with the goal of raising awareness of federal service.

     “We want to show them that people care and that everybody knows that they’re doing a wonderful job,” said Kristy Christiansen, the Public Service Recognition Week Committee chairperson.

     Col. William J. Harkin III, the assistant chief of staff for 4th Marine Aircraft Wing Operations, received the Outstanding Military Officer Field Grade award.

     Gunnery Sgt. Jeremy E. Singleton, the staff noncommissioned officer in charge of the Administrative Assistance Unit here received the Outstanding Military Senior Non-Commissioned Officer award.

     Cpl. Emitria J. Henderson, the noncommissioned officer in charge of, 4th MAW’s adjutant section, received the Outstanding Military Non-Commissioned Officer award.

     Robert E. Braithwaite, the deputy director for MarForRes and Marine Forces North, received the Outstanding Federal Executive/Agency award.

     Larry Rankins, an analyst for 4th MAW’s Defense Travel System and Government Charge Card won Outstanding Administrative Employee.

     Melanie Young, a personnel chief at MarForRes won the Outstanding Community Service/Volunteer award.

     Receiving an award was a surprise to Singleton, who was not even aware that he had been nominated.

     “I felt privileged,” said Singleton, describing his feelings upon receiving the award. “It was unexpected. I feel appreciated for the dedication I put into my job.”
