Update to Career Intermission Pilot Program

29 Apr 2014 | Sgt. Adwin Esters U.S. Marine Corps Forces Reserve

An update to the Career Intermission Pilot Program via Marine administrative message 212/14 may delay some officers participation in the program.

CIPP is a program that provides a one-time temporary transition from active duty to the Individual Ready Reserve for a period of one to three years for service members to pursue personal or professional goals outside the Corps, while providing a means for returning to active duty to complete a successful career in the Marine Corps.

According to the new MARADMIN, officers may not delay their promotion while participating in CIPP. Therefore, if an officer is selected for promotion to the next higher grade they will have to wait until they are promoted before they can apply for the program.
