NEW ORLEANS -- Marine administrative message 293/15 announces the need for qualified Marines to lateral move into the 0211 Counterintelligence and Human Intelligence Specialist military occupational specialty. Marines who meet the prerequisites are highly encouraged to apply.
The 0211 MOS has been categorized by Manpower and Reserve Affairs as a chronically short “high demand, low density” MOS. The demand for highly qualified Marines within this occupational field has more than doubled over the last decade and will remain high for the foreseeable future.
While many CI/HUMINT skills can be taught, the development of a skilled CI/HUMINT professional requires outstanding interpersonal skills that enable successful interaction with a wide variety of people, under any circumstance.
The following prerequisites for a lateral move into the CI/HUMINT Specialist MOS are as follows:
a. Must volunteer at the rank of corporal, sergeant, or staff sergeant. Marines laterally moving into the 0211 MOS as a corporal may be considered for promotion non-competitively in accordance with promotion authority.
b. Must possess a general technical score of 110 or higher.
c. Must be willing to extend or re-enlist for 60 months of obligated service.
d. Must be at least 21 years of age prior to lateral move into the 0211 MOS.
e. Must be eligible for a top-secret security clearance with special compartmentalized information access, based on a single-scope background investigation.
f. Must be a U.S. citizen.
g. Must have taken an accredited typing test and attained a minimum score of 30 words per minute.
h. Must be willing to submit to a counter-intelligence scope polygraph examination.
i. Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license.
j. Must be interviewed and recommended for a lateral move by an assessment and selection board composed of only CI/HUMINT personnel.
k. Immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings, children, and cohabitants) must be U.S. citizens (exception to policy may be requested to Headquarters Marine Corps special security office based on Director of Intelligence certification of compelling need and favorable adjudication).
5. Interested Marines should contact their career planner or prior-service recruiter to ensure they meet the prerequisites in accordance with the references. Marines meeting the prerequisites should contact the nearest CI/HUMINT element and arrange to begin the assessment and selection process. A letter of recommendation for Marines who are successful in this assessment and selection process will be forwarded to the Marine's monitor via the career planner. Manpower Management Enlisted Assignment issues final approval or disapproval by separate correspondence.
