Geico Military Service Awards program

22 Sep 2015 | Cpl. J. Gage Karwick U.S. Marine Corps Forces Reserve

MARADMIN 458/15 - Marine Administrative Message 458/15 announces the requirements for the Geico Military Service Awards program, which honors one Active Duty enlisted member from each military service and one member from the Reserve Component or National Guard components for outstanding contributions to the civilian and or military community.

The award is based on contributions in drug and alcohol abuse prevention, fire safety and fire prevention and traffic safety and accident prevention.

Marine forces commanders, Marine Corps installations commanders and training and education commanders may each submit up to three nominees for each category.

Award recipients will be recognized with a special ceremony in Washington, District of Columbia, and receive an honorarium. Geico pays the cost of lodging and round trip transportation for the Marine and a guest.

Selections are based on noteworthy contributions in one of the above areas in career and non-career related activities, whether they are current, ongoing or spanning prior years. Any active duty or Reserve Component enlisted member with at least one year of obligated service remaining from the date of the nomination is eligible. Previous recipients of this award are not eligible.

The selection panel is composed of the senior enlisted advisors of each service and the Reserve/National Guard component. Final selections of the Marine Corps recipients are made by the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps.
