30 Sep 2015 | Cpl. Sara Graham U.S. Marine Corps Forces Reserve

Marine Administrative Message 474/15 offers guidance, procedures, eligibility requirements and reporting requirements for Inactive Duty Training Travel Reimbursement.

The program is used to incentivize travel for select Marines to address critical staffing short falls in the Selected Marine Corps Reserve.

To be eligible, Marines must be assigned to a billet identification code that matches their grade and Military Occupational Specialty. They must also match one of the eligible ranks and MOS's listed in the MARADMIN. Marine Officers assigned to an SMCR unit at the battalion/squadron or below, or to a civil affairs group, are eligible for reimbursement. Enlisted Marines eligibility is not limited to the battalion or squadron level.

Marines with the rank of corporal, sergeant and staff sergeant with the MOS of Counter Intelligence/ Human Intelligence who submit a lateral move package to an open 0211 BIC are eligible for reimbursement to conduct their board interview. Marines with the primary MOS 0321, Reconnaissance, are also authorized for reimbursement when filling a BIC that is a grade below the necessary grade.

Marines interested must submit request forms endorsed by their chain of command to include the Commander of Marine Forces Reserve.

Reimbursement will not exceed $300 per round trip, and Marines are required to have receipts for each request. Marines’ reimbursement is also limited to a total of 11 round trips per fiscal year.

For more information on eligibility and procedures concerning the Inactive Duty Training Travel Reimbursement, see the MARADMIN.
