Marine Forces Reserve personnel honored for community excellence

Marines with the 4th Marine Logistics Group Headquarters G-4, Marine Forces Reserve, and a civilian employee with MARFORRES, were honored at the Distinguished Service Awards and Luncheon Program as a part of Public Service Recognition Week, May 4, 2016 at the University of New Orleans.

    Public Service Recognition Week aims to celebrate those individuals who take on the many challenges and opportunities that face the United States and recognize them for their commitment to helping others.

    Maj. John J. Gutierrez, supply officer, Sgt. Justin A. Snapp, maintenance management chief, Lance Cpl. Coltin J. Kersey, embarkation clerk, with 4th MLG, and Mrs.  Janet Heriot customer service support specialist with the MARFORRES Installation Personnel Administration Center, were awarded for their hard work and dedication in supporting the Marine Corps and their community.

    “We are there when people need us,” said Gutierrez.  “Whether it is to protect and defend them, or provide a different level of resourcefulness.”

    With the geographical diversity of MARFORRES, Marines have the unique opportunity to interact with the local community and American public on a daily basis. This involvement helps keep the future bright for the Marine Corps and the community as a whole.
