The hospital corps celebrated their 117th birthday this year. Habel spoke of the importance of hospital corpsmen and shared several unique experiences. The rating of hospital corpsman is the most decorated in the United States Navy, with 22 Medals of Honor, 178 Navy Crosses, 31 Navy Distinguished Service Medals, 946 Silver Stars, over 1,500 Bronze Stars and 20 naval ships named after hospital corpsmen.
