From Jun to Dec 2020, SPMAGTF-SC 20, in coordination with Partner Nations and US Government entities, forward deploys to execute opportune maritime engagements, theater security cooperation, and foreign humanitarian assistance in the SOUTHCOM AOR to increase interoperability between U.S. and select partner naval forces, build a more lethal force, and increase PN ability to export security.  BPT support limited crisis response.

A squad of Marine mortarmen with Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, assumes the role of a fire direction center as part of an indirect-fire weapons integration exercise Aug. 15, 2014, aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., during exercise Heavy Metal 14. The FDC coordinates with forward observers to send grid coordinates to gun crews to accurately place rounds down range.
