Train like we fight: Reserve Marines and Sailors take part in simulated training

Navy Capt. Joseph P. Costabile, vascular/general surgeon with 4th Medical Battalion, 4th Marine Logistics Group, Marine Forces Reserve, performs surgery on a simulated casualty during Exercise Global Medic at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, Aug. 16, 2016. Throughout the course of the exercise, casualties with various injuries were sent to the Shock Trauma Platoon and then to the operating room where the medical staff would quickly evaluate them and perform the necessary treatment for stabilization, such as the casualty depicted above who had shrapnel stuck in his chest from an improvised explosive device.
