Enlisted Marines Experience What it Takes to Become a Marine Officer
Marines with Marine Forces Reserve (MARFORRES) take part in a terrain model exercise at The Basic School during a Summer Officer Tour on Marine Corps Base Quantico, Va., Aug. 19, 2021. This table-top exercise gives Marines an opportunity to practice critical thinking and employ battlefield tactics in a simulated environment. Enlisted Marines participated in the Commander of Marine Forces Reserve and Marine Forces South’s inaugural Summer Officer Tour to gain insight into the journey of becoming a Marine Corps Officer. The tour also included visits to Officer Candidates School, Marine Corps University, The National Museum of The Marine Corps and Marine Barracks Washington. MARFORRES is seeking to identify high performing Active Component, Active Reserve and Selected Marine Corps Reserve Marines, who offer unique perspectives, to pursue a commission as an officer in an effort to better prepare the Marine Corps Total Force to meet future threats.
