ABOUT 

Heavy Equipment Operators and other Engineer support Marines will work with repair and maintain the Camp Carter camping site, which is owned and operated by the local YMCA chapter. Both MAW and MLG units are supporting with separate rotations.

Ramiro Alvarado, administrative specialist, Charlie Company, 23rd Marine Regiment from Alamo, Texas holds up a jacket while teaching Afghan children about the letter "J" at Lonestar Academy, an educational facility that expands upon the curriculum already offered to Afghan evacuees. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible.
