Toys for Tots sets out to Utqiaġvik
U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Steven Manning, black helmet, and U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Kevin Smith, red helmet, observe as a KC-130J Super Hercules approaches on an airfield to transport service members, their gear, and snowmobiles to Utqiagvik, Alaska in Kotzebue, Alaska, Dec. 13, 2024. Manning, an administrative specialist with Detachment Delta Company, 4th Law Enforcement Battalion, Force Headquarters Group, Marine Forces Reserve, and Smith, a security forces craftsman with 673d Security Forces Squadron, 673d Air Base Wing, were among other service members who flew from Kotzebue to Utqiagvik, to continue this year’s Toys for Tots operation. The Toys for Tots mission exemplifies the Marine Corps spirit in the Last Frontier, strengthening community ties while sharpening the Marines' readiness for Arctic operations.
