Lt. Gen. Steven A. Hummer, commander of Marine Forces Reserve and Marine Forces North, and Sgt. Maj. James E. Booker, MARFORRES sergeant major, gather with John Besh, an award-winning chef, during the Louisiana Seafood Cook-Off, April 20, 2012. The cook-off was held as part of the War of 1812 Commemoration. New Orleans will serve as the inaugural city in a three-year national celebration commemorating the War of 1812 and the Star-Spangled Banner. The Marine Corps’ role in this event reinforces its naval character, showcases the Navy-Marine Corps team and highlights the military’s enduring relationship with the city of New Orleans.
