ABOUT 

The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible. This initiative provides Afghan personnel essential support at secure locations outside Afghanistan

Heavy equipment operators from across Marine Forces Reserve move material to complete a runway extension project at Innovative Readiness Training Old Harbor, Alaska, July 9, 2016. The project would extend the existing Old Harbor runway by 2,000 feet, which would allow larger aircraft to land in Old Harbor. IRT Old Harbor is part of a civil and joint military program to improve military readiness while simultaneously providing quality services to underserved communities throughout the United States.
