ABOUT 

The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible. This initiative provides Afghan personnel essential support at secure locations outside Afghanistan

Vietnam veteran honored for his service
Maj. Bert J. Reinink (left), Inspector-Instructor of Company C, 1st Battalion, 24th Marines, 25th Marine Regiment, presents the Navy Commendation Medal with a bronze “V” for valor to Daniel S. Baldwin, a Marine veteran who served in Vietnam, at the State Capitol building Sept. 2, 2016. The bronze “V” is a symbol of combat heroism and recognizes individuals who have been exposed to personal hazard during participation in combat operations.
